Several of Malorie Blackman novels have been adapted for Television screens, and they include Pig-Heart Boy and Whizziwig. Some of the television scripts written by the author include the popular children drama, Byker Grove. Her writing works have won over ten awards. Not So Stupid is the first book written by Malorie Blackman, it was published in 1990, the book is a collection of horror and science fiction for young adults, and up to date, the author has written over 60 children books which include short stories, novels, stage plays and television scripts. She mainly uses science fiction to explore ethical and social issues and one of her famous series, Noughts and Crosses series uses a fantasy setting to study the issues of racism. The author describes herself as Blackman, a black woman writer and writes television drama and literature for children and young adults. In 1990’s Blackman got married to Neil, and in 1995 their first born Elizabeth was born. She earned her Higher National Certificate (HNC) from the Thames Polytechnic and later graduated National Film and Television School. Her parents are both from Barbados, and while at school she had a passion of becoming an English teacher but unfortunately she grew up and became a systems programmer. Malorie Blackman is a British novelist born on 8th February 1962.
